Not as delightfully Arthur Kopit as most of Kopit's other works. I think in this case it is marred by the music, which is uninspired and doesn't really do much to help the plot along; it would help more to have the interactions between the characters without the music. It sort of rambles on through the protagonist's imagination, but intersperses with real life, and I can't imagine if this were staged that one would be able to tell the difference; I could barely tell the difference, and then show more only because the script occasionally had a stage direction that indicated you were back in real life (or back in imagination). With an inspired director, that might work, but I wouldn't want to stage it, though the stage itself is incredibly simple, allowing many changes of location, since it is all imagined.
