Some of these are lovely little renderings in the West Coast style; others, well, I'm all for creative and syncretistic updating of traditional art but where it's just a standard outline of a bear filled up with First Nations art shapes like a purse stuffed with guts, it's not that great. And why oh why not a story instead of making it a picture vocabulary book? It's not like you're teaching kids what a "Otter--Halibut--Hummingbird" actually looks like.
