Clarence A. Andrews

This is an anthology of selections from authors who grew up in Iowa. They vary in interest, but in general I enjoyed the accounts. I suppose I enjoyd most Julie McDonald's account "Growing Up in Western Iowa" since she grew up in my native county; Shelby County. Altho Paul Corey is also from that county, but he does not use actual place names, for reasons which I don't know but I wish he had. I liked reading this book, which is not very thick, much.

1239. A Literary History of Iowa, by Clarence A. Andrews (26 Aug 1973) I did not find this too well organized nor did I find reference therein to anything I felt I must read. Eleven books mentioned in the book I had read, and since then I have read these others mentioned: Paul Corey's The Road Returns and his County Seat (these books, with his Three Miles Square are, so far as I know, the only fiction having as its locale my native county--Shelby County, Iowa) and Vandemark's Folly, by show more Herbert Quick, and four books by Hamlin Garland in January of 1982, But I have not read others I noted as maybe I should read.
