This book is focused on animals that have hard shells as protection. Some of the animals discussed in this book include turtles, crabs, and mollusks. This book discusses the function of these shells, as well as the structure of them. The science vocabulary words and bolded to be easily identified and are explained very well, in a kid-friendly manner.
This book could be used with a unit involving predators and prey, because it discusses the survival function the shells have for these animals.
"Nine-year-old Bahishta, who was born in Afghanistan, presents a look at her daily life in the U.S., including her home, family, religious studies, and playtime, and describes her cultural heritage."
my daughter made me stop reading my books for a few minutes so she could read this to me because she said it was educational and very interesting, and I admit it was ;)
