Reviews
Collection of columns written for NRC Handelsblad in the late nineties, mostly not about chess. Often a bit whimsical, but quite entertaining. Ree's formal discipline is a bit oppressive: there are precisely 50 columns in the book, and each one is precisely three pages long. There's probably a difference of less than fifty words between the longest and the shortest.
A great collection of stories and profiles in the odd kind of rambling style of Hans Ree.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Thoroughly Dutch.
