Stunning works. Profoundly Apache (and other Native), and also universal. Accessible to laypeople, but also indisputably 'Fine Art.' Photos are excellent; I can almost imagine that I'm seeing the pieces irl.
I am amazed how many different styles and mediums (and sizes) this hard-working genius worked in, and how, still, they're distinctly his.
I am not reading the text. The book is huge; the text is small, and I & my eyes are old. But there's really no need, I think (based on snippets I did show more read). (Almost all of the works speak for Mr. Houser and for themselves perfectly clearly & out loud, even the more abstract ones like 1988's *Sentinels.*
Btw, he also illustrated at least one book, 1962's [b:The Desert People|128018819|The Desert People|Ann Nolan Clark|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|21064327], by [a:Ann Nolan Clark|184413|Ann Nolan Clark|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1573631782p2/184413.jpg] about the Tohono O'Odham.
