Swim with the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive: Outsell, Outmanage, Outmotivate, and Outnegotiate Your Competition (Collins Business Essentials) by Harvey Mackay
There is a reprint of this book printed in January 2005 but I read the book from 1989 when Japan was on the verge of taking overtaking the United States and the Internet was just something that Al Gore used.
It is old but still a lot of good advice in this book. The tone is matter-of-fact and bordering on in-your-face. He won me over when he said that when you’re selling something, you should keep what you’re selling separate from whom you are: because honestly, we are lousy products.

One of the best networking books I have read, and the first book anybody should read on the subject. A very practical book that is easy to read. Mr. Mackay does a great a job in the using examples of great networkers such as - Larry King, Lou Holtz, and Muhammed Ali. This book is very entertaining helps you get out of your personal shell so to speak. I highly recommend.
Sometimes I write about a book a few days after I finished reading it to recollect what I remember. This book is filled with little quips, sayings, and ideas ... none of which I can quote!
So I had to knock it down another star. I do remember the people he interviewed .. Larry King, Muhammad Ali, Billie Jean King, Donald Trump, Bill Belichick .... and even my boss (well, about 5 levels on top of me), Sue Johnson.
Though the words escape me I'm sure I learned a few things from the book. Quoting show more quotes sounds intelligent but it's when the concepts jive that you really are intelligent. show less

Heard most of it before There are a few good points in the book but most of it is standard networking. He draws out his point way too much. Did not finish the book.
