Dick Meister

I grew up in Ogden Dunes, Indiana in the 50's. My father built both houses we lived in there. We moved away when I was 11, and I've missed it ever since. I visited a few times in the 80's and 90's, and I was thrilled to see that the East side, where I grew up, hasn't changed at all.
There is an Images of America version of the nearest town, Portage, Indiana, where we all went to school, but I can not recommend the Portage edition. The pictures were interesting in the Portage edition, but the show more captions were so poorly written as to remind me of what elementary school kids would write. However, this one, the Ogden Dunes edition, is quite good, as it was mostly written by members of the Ogden Dunes Historical Society. Lots of information on the early days, the 20's and 30's, which I knew little about, and wonderful old pictures, many of which I'd never seen before. Would probably be interesting for anyone from northwest Indiana, or interested in early 20th century settlement of the shores of the Great Lakes. show less
