I'm reading 2 books now that are female archaeologists in some future time dealing with discoveries on alien cultures and this is definitely not of the same caliber as the other. As I had not read previous novels in the Earth:Final Conflict series, I found the Taelon/guardian interactions unusual, but followed the storyline well enough. The dynamics of Zo'or & Da'an's relationship were too reminiscent of human family dynamics to sit well.
Waneta Long (called Waneta Young on the back cover) is show more on an archaeological dig in Cherokee homelands yet doesn't have permission of the tribe for the dig? The funding of a megacorporation is a stretch of the imagination. The character's are not well developed, there is the usual repulsion/attraction with a strong male character, and I wonder how the Tsalagi feel about the usurption of their legend.
An adequate book for a distracting read.
