I liked this book for a few reasons. For one, I liked the illustrations because they were real photographs. I think this enhanced the text because it was describing holidays in different countries. By having photographs from other countries allow students who are not familiar with that country to gain a better insight to what the celebrations look like. Also, I liked that this book had a glossary. Some of the words in the text may be unfamiliar to students and by having a glossary can help show more them to understand the material better. For example, legend is defined as, “an ancient story often telling of important historical events.” This definition is important for students to know because in the book, legends are described. Finally, I liked the descriptive language that was used throughout the book. While each page describes different holidays and their history, it also describes different activities people participate in to celebrate. There is no major message of Seasonal Festivals: Spring Festival but it describes holidays from all around the world, which reflects how no matter where someone is from, there are holidays that are important to them that they celebrate. show less

SUMMARY: This book gave information about celebrations that occur during the winter. Some of the chapters included information about Chinese New year, Carnival de Rio de Janeiro, and Christmas.

REVIEW: This book was extremely interesting and gave information about a dozen different festivals and celebrations that occur around the world in the winter. The book had photographs that enhanced the book greatly.

SUMMARY: This book gave information about celebrations that happen during the summer. Some of the chapter provided information about the Dragon boat festival, Workers' Holiday, Solstice celebrations and Independence day.

SUMMARY: This book was about celebrations that occur in the Spring. Some of the short chapters gave information about Passover, Buddhist New Year, April Fools' day and Flower festivals
