Easily 4.5 ⭐️ for this forceful, good-natured and exuberant memoir, jam-packed with minutely recalled and often hilarious anecdotes from Brian Blessed’s South Yorkshire, WWII-era childhood, and his long career on the stage and screen. I probably would have gone 5 ⭐️ but for one or two stories that left me a little
I could only read this in short bursts as he's imposing and loud and terribly funny. It reads like him regaling you with his deeds and holding court. He is opinionated and sweary and a lot of fun.
I enjoyed it.

I was a little apprehensive about starting this book. Brian Blessed is a larger than life character that comes across as being a little mental, but totally honest and good fun - I did not want this illusion shattered. I needn't have worried. This was bloody good fun, and I couldn't get his voice out of my head (something he recommends you avoid at the start - it is much like a conversation with him!). Whilst it ignores his first marriage, it covers all other life events with mirth and show more honesty, and peppered with some swearing too.
If you want a good read about a living actor, go for this...well worth it! show less

Definitely get the audiobook, sit back, relax and enjoy one of the greatest voices in cinema! Brian Blessed provides a fascinating insight to life, death, and acting. Very positively charged and more times than I can count, laugh out loud funny. You will finish this book feeling happy, wanting to "GO FOR IT," and shout "GORDON'S ALIVE!"
