About the Author
Edmund Bailey O'Callaghan (1797-1880), was born in Mallow, Ireland, and emigrated to Canada in the 1820s where he set up a practice as a physician. He moved to United States during the Rebellion of 1837 and became one of most influential historians of colonial New York.
