About the Author

Edmund Bailey O'Callaghan (1797-1880), was born in Mallow, Ireland, and emigrated to Canada in the 1820s where he set up a practice as a physician. He moved to United States during the Rebellion of 1837 and became one of most influential historians of colonial New York.

Wonderful four volume set with lots of maps and reproductions of historical documents, including lengthy excerpts from descriptions of early wars with the Indians, and French.
