This continues the story of a family of shifters. The Falke siblings are a set of quadruplets Axel and Gunnar (who where in the first book Falke's Peak), Kelan and Reidar and then a set of triplets Sindre, Torsten, and sister Heidi.
This book is Kelan and Reider's story. Kelan is struggling with wanting to make some changes to the business dynamics the Falke's have which causes some strife between him and the Alpha brother Axel.
Kelan and Reidar are out drinking one night and see Beth show more Coldwell who is in town to track and tag big cats in the wild (something she doesnt tell them of course) She just mentions that she is graduate student in town doing some research studies. Both Kelan and Reidar are attracted to Beth and Reidar has the feeling she is there mate but Kelan isnt ready to start thinking about settling down with a mate like his older brothers have.
After an argument with Axel, Kelan decides to change into puma form and run to blow off some steam.. Well this gets him shot in the butt with a trank gun by Beth and he wakes up in a cage.. Some of the best comedic moments in this series come from the "thinking" of the Faulke that is in cat form. Kelan does manage to escape but not before Beth managed to get a blood sample which the family cant let be revealed.
There was some suspense over this especially from her boss who seemed to have more of a motive for wanting to find shifters.
With Beth's profession the romance was a little more strained and Kelan didnt really want to believe that she was there mate.
Overall a good 2nd book in the series. I am really curious about how the sisters romance is going to play out. I am sure the next book with be Sindre and Torsten but its going to be interesting to see who Heidi's mate or mates are.. show less

Heidi is a caretaker in just about every aspect of her life. She’s a veterinarian, lives with and cares for her fathers and the brothers left at home. Heidi is a very rare female shifter and as such her mother prepared her for a life without children. Her brothers are the only male shifters she’s ever heard about and she can only have babies with a male shifter. So to say Heidi is shocked to discover the jaguar, whose bullet wound she’s treating, is really a shifter would be an show more understatement. Suddenly she has a chance at a future without loneliness. That is until the cat finally talks to her and makes it clear he will be leaving as soon as he heals.
Javier has spent the last 2 years with one thing on his mind, killing the man that murdered his brother and mate. He hasn’t stopped chasing him once since that day; until he gets mistaken for a different animal, and gets shot. Lucky for him he’s in Heidi’s hometown and she’s the call to come save him. He’s confused by his attraction to Heidi. It’s the first time in two years he has been remotely interested in a woman. Javier can’t reconcile his feelings and thinks he doesn’t want another mate. As he fights Heidi’s pull, he has conversation with her fathers about the loss of their mate.
It was difficult to watch Heidi struggle with her growing feeling for Javier knowing he was going to leave, leave her without a future, was very emotional. I truly felt for her. It wasn’t much easier to witness Javier’s inner struggle to reconcile his past, present, and possible future. The future he would like to have with Heidi, but doesn’t think he can. The sex between them was hot and explosive. The scenes were written so well I could fell the emotions coming from both of them.
I recommend this to anyone who likes strong heroines, hot alpha males, romance and action. This is the third in a series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Very good shifter romance. The set up was interesting. The Falke brothers own a wilderness outfitting and guide business. Each day one of the six brothers spends the day shifted into a cougar as the store mascot. The heroine, Beth, is a scientist in the area to study cougars for her PHD. She meets two of the brothers, Kelan and Reider one night in a bar. The next day she sees Kelan running as a cougar and tranqs him and discovers he has a collar. He manages to escape but not before she has show more taken a blood sample. The next day she tracks him to the family store and meets the rest of the family who are none to happy with her. So the set up is that she is researching cougars, has his odd blood and the three of them are falling in love.
The writing of this story was pretty solid. The plot had a beginning, middle and end. It all made sense and hung together. The story was well rounded and interesting and unlike many shorter menage/romantica stories, the ending was not abrupt. All the characters' actions made sense. The dialog was well done. The shifter world was fairly well set up but I could have used more back story. The love scenes were plentiful and well done. There was however enough story that it didn't seem as if this was just an excuse to write sex scenes. The menage part of the story seemed more natural and necessary than in most shifter menage stories. I was glad however that it was just 2 men per woman rather than all the brothers as I've seen many times. There was some humor and a reasonable amount of tension.
All in all, I really enjoyed the book.

Review: Dakota's introduction to the Falke brothers in this book is the stuff dreams are made of. Walk in to a store and find five gorgeous men eager to serve… well, one of them is a cougar at the time. Once again, I found myself running back to the store (aren't we glad that doesn't involve a car anymore?) to buy book one when I unknowingly started book two (Falke's Captive). This time I wasn't show more disappointed because Falke's Peak was most excellent.
One of the boys is always in cougar form on the trail and in the store for protection. This gets to be a bitter point when Axel and Gunnar take Dakota up the trail to the cabin, and only one gets to be human. They can communicate telepathically with each other, and the jealousy is leaping between the two guys just as much as the chemistry is between them and Dakota.
I wish the book was longer, and got more into the the relationship between all the family. But it's a quick read and the author shows us the character's feelings and struggles from the beginning. I couldn't tell it was written by two people, and the flow of the story was great but it just made the book go by too fast. The authors didn't take the quick & easy ending, and I loved how it ended. Of course I can't give it away.
Go buy this book! But make sure you buy Falke's Captive as well. show less
