A beautiful book with many coloured illustrations, a first edition. Includes the stories of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and others less well known from Charles Perreault, Mme. d'Aulnoy, and Mme. Leprince de Beaumont. I remember it from childhood.
The end note from the publisher says "The Volland ideal is that the books for children must not cause fright, suggest fear, glorify mischief, extenuate malice, or condone cruelty. That is why Volland books are "good for children". Quite a modern show more attitude.
Suitable for preschoolers on up. show less
