Let's be honest - I like big spaceships just as much as the next guy. One of the delights of the new incarnations of Trek was the extent to which an expanded universe opened up the possibility for more spaceships; the arrival of CGI just escalated this to remarkable degrees. So a spotter's guide to starships was just what I had been waiting for.

This is, it has to be said, not the book I wanted. It is a selection of designs from the Trek universe, rather than a comprehensive guide. Some of show more the inclusions are more puzzling than the omissions. The book also uses bespoke artwork rather than tv/film stills - which considering that it is a licenced production, seems a bit strange. But until the book I'm waiting for - an 'Observer's Book of Starships' - comes along, it'll have to do. show less
