I have loved narrative poems since reading Unterrneyer's Story Ooems when young. This has a lot of the same good ones like Herve Riel, Incident of the French Camp, early Robin Hood ballds, Scott's Scottish ballads etc. Also Amercan verse by Whittier, Whitman etc. Aside from the opening ballads, it is generally 19th century
Great book for someone like me who loves traditional narrative poetry --begins with Robin Hood, Johnie Armstrong and Patrick Spens, but mostly nineteenth century : Scott,Southey, Longellow, Wordsworth, tennyson, Whittier, Browning, Kipling --includesmost recently Yeats and Masefield. and lesser lights.
