Large format book cuisines of Indonesia Thailand, India, North Africa, Spain, Mexico Morroco Singapore Tex-Mex. Reader's review: I grew up in Texas, where we eat jalapeños as often as possible, and my parents recently spent a few years living in the London area, where I found the food to be.. not as reliably spiced... So this cookbook was a delight for me, as a British author exuberantly fills pages with the wonder of, "Wow, did you know that you can put peppers in food and make it taste show more good? This is amazing!" The book has some beautiful photography, with gorgeous full-page shots of completed dishes and less artistic but more practical pictures in the margins to help guide a home cook to the right techniques. The book is short, with only a few sample recipes along the lines of, "Wow! You can put peppers in beans!" and, "Wow! You can put peppers on fish!" but the recipes seem simple and tasty. I don't expect that I will use this book much, as my personal tastes run to the spicy anyway, and I have other cookbooks that just assume a knowledge of peppers, but this is a well-assembled book that should serve as a great introduction for cooks just starting to branch out from their blander comfort foods. show less
Good recipes, even better ideas. You may not like a particular recipe, but this will get your creative side going. I made heart-shaped peanut butter cookies with dark chocolate stripes after combining two ideas I barely liked. A bit pretentious because it uses the technical term 'scant'. Easy to use in kitchen because it's a hardback with good photos on glossy paper because
It Is ALL About DESSERT!

The book is hard bound, about 6x6 and thick!

The photos are many and the recipes are wonderful.

How about: Chocolate orange cookies, Chocolate lemon pinwheels, Mocha creams, Chocolate Rum Babas, Caraway Madeira cake, Chocolate ganache cake, Chocolate Lamington pound cake, Low-fat (?) Chocolate & pineapple cake, Citrus crescents, Chocolate brandy torte, or Fruit crumble tart?

Is your mouth watering yet? Are you having cravings? If so, then this is a book for you!
This little book, published shortly after the Queen Mother's death, is indeed, as the title suggests, a celebration of a life. It's a great little overview of the life of a woman who touched so many for so long.
