For a couple seasons I enjoyed it for the cheesy power-play soap opera it mostly is, but its failure to delve into the real-world consequences of what hedge funds do made it feel shallow and bland after a while. In six seasons it failed to feel as rich and layered as two-hour movies like, say, the Big Short. It even got to the point where it was unabashedly casting Bobby Axelrod as the good guy, tossing out the early-series acknowledgement that, despite Bobby's charisma and likeability, the show more whiny, dorky attorney general, Chuck Rhoades, was the show's white-hat. show less

After realizing he's mortal, a businessman screws up his life.

If you've seen Crazy Heart or The Wrestler, then this doesn't have much new to offer except an excuse to give Michael Douglas an Oscar nomination. But it didn't bore me. Good directing and editing. My wife says it's geared for an older audience. Perhaps that would explain why so many of the secondary characters are not immediately appalled by Douglas' character.
