Not quite as interesting as the first book in the series. Rex has completed his spy training under Dora and is officially working on a case . . . . their supervisor is missing. Rex must infiltrate the House of Lords and does so with the help of Dora’s father. Meanwhile Rex’s aunt and Dora’s mother have noticed the chemistry between the two and are preparing a covert operation of their own.
It’s the 1920s and a femme fatale is an undercover agent for the government who is looking into the death of her partner and approaches his best friend (an aristocrat) to find out what he was doing in the days before he was murdered. On Dora and Rex’s first meeting, they get shot at, involved in a wild car chase through London, borrow(?) a car, go to docklands bar, Rex almost gets beaten up after a setup card game and then brings Dora to his grandmother’s house, (the dowager) to hide. show more It was one crazy escapade after another before they figure out was what was going on and Rex’s gets recruited. show less
