After reading only the first chapter I got on the phone and started calling my friends! This is a book that everyone needs. It ranks right up there with Lady In Waiting. I will be giving it as gifts to friends who have daughters.

This is one of those life-changing books. In today's society girls are pushed into the dating scene. Pressured to be what everyone is and to do what everyone else is doing. Statistics show a rise in sexual promiscuity and at a younger age. In fact I am surprised at show more the pressure my grade school girl has felt for not having a "boyfriend". Too often girls that go dateless are made to feel worthless - the two words have almost become alike in today's culture.

Lisa Velthouse gives us a book that is so encouraging and uplifting. She shares her personal story a journey of feeling left out to being completely satisfied. Help your young daughter become centered in God's word and in her identity in Him. In the end at the alter she will present to her spouse the most perfect gift - and she will have the satisfaction of having followed God's design.

Craving Grace by Lisa Velthouse is a memoir that begins with a girl who thinks she is doing everything right and trying to please God by what she is doing. When things fall apart, she thinks maybe she isn't doing enough. She feels as though she needs to earn God's favor toward her. Her biggest success is that she has been saving her first kiss for her fiance/husband. Then one day, she decides to fast for 6 months from sweets and everything turns upside down. Lisa learns a lot as she goes on show more this journey that takes her from relying on her works to relying on the grace of God in her life.

Before I sat down with this book, I wasn't sure what to expect from this author. It was an easy read (I read it in just a few days). I think that most human beings can identify with the author in that we struggle with trying to win God's favor with our works instead of realizing that God loves us no matter what. I appreciated her honesty with her struggle to let grace reign in her life. But, there were times while I was reading that I got lost in the time line of her life since she would jumped back and forth in the story from three years before to the present. I also wished that the author would of pointed to Christ more often since He is our sole source of grace. I would have to say that this book's rating is okay. It's the type of book that you could either take it or leave it.

**I received a complimentary copy of the book for review purposes from Tyndale House.

“I received this book from netGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is in no way affected my opinion of the book, or the content of my review.”

This book is beautifully illustrated, I love the designed pages with meaningful quotes. A work of art!

But what disappointed me most wasn't exactly the content but the Lack of it. First hundred pages were either of inner sins or her friends/family's mistakes and wrongs.
I expected a deeper story, one who will move my feelings show more but the scattered story's here and there and different topic dimmed whatever excitement I had for this one.
I struggled through this book, I requested a copy from netgalley thinking that this is a 100% Memoir but it's like 30-45% personal and the rest is like a lesson in religion.

I couldn't get into this one at all. I wanted to. Really I did. It sounds so good. But I had to stop.( I haven't finished it I stopped around 180-185 Pages)

I have great respect for Lauren Suggs (for what she has been through and what she accomplished ) and I also respect all religions therefore I will not review that part of the book.
