Oscar the cat loves to jump places where he can see everything. He jumps so high that he makes it to the moon where he meets some mooncats. After playing and having fun, he's ready to come home but the mooncats try to convince him to stay. Oscar hitches a ride on the back of a cow and makes it back home to "his boy." Pictures are bold, detailed and drawn from interesting perspectives. I enjoyed the use of adjectives but thought some of the word choice too advanced for this age group- peak, show more scolded, pearly, etc. Mooncats and space cow are a little far-fetched but will remind parents of forbidden fruit or Sirens. show less
This one really made an impression on my kid. We read it just a few times (you know, maybe 3 to 5 times -- relatively few for the toddler set) but months later she still periodically references the cat on the moon. So I guess that makes this one a stand-out.

The village where Kip and Elsa has poor conditions for fishing and growing crops, but one thing they do have the resources for is making beautiful baskets of all shapes and sorts. In this villiage, the children are taught from a young age the art of weaving. The village was a peaceful and happy place until the mighty wind grew stronger and stronger. Parents tied their kids to trees and their dogs to cows. Everyone is trying to figure out a solution to stop this mighty wind, but it takes the show more smarts of a the children to save the day! show less
