3,5 stars - I usually round up, but I really wasn’t a big fan of this one…

I love grumpy/sunshine pairings, but this didn’t really work for me. I don’t think we were supposed to like Brynn at the beginning and to be honest I didn’t really like her in the end either. There is some character growth sure, but I couldn’t really relate to her and while I didn’t hate Sebastian, he wasn’t my favorite either.

Also the romance came kind of out of the blue. I read a lot of romance books show more but I honestly didn’t see the first kiss coming.

Also - why is this published as Christian fiction? I am a Christian but I don’t read exclusively Christian fiction and I always try to judge books for what they claim to be. Books without any faith content whatsoever BUT published as Christian novels annoy me to no end. If you don’t want to talk about God and faith that’s completely fine, but then please don’t use the label…

This was a cute friends to lovers romance and I liked the main characters A LOT more than I liked Brynn and Sebastian from the previous book.

Something felt off for me, but I can’t really say what. Maybe it was just a bit strange, that both were nearing 40 and never having realized they were in love with each other? I don’t know, but since I can’t even pinpoint what I didn’t like, I don’t want to let it impact my rating (too much).

Other than that I’m still annoyed that this show more series is marketed as Christian fiction. Why? There is nothing Christian about this story or the characters. It’s a clean romance with no open door scenes. That doesn’t make it Christian - and it obviously doesn’t have to be, but please don’t market it as such…

I listened to the audiobook which I enjoyed. It’s cute, but nothing special. show less
