A Birder's Guide to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas (Lane ABA Birdfinding Guides Ser #414 by Mark W. Lockwood
Rapidly becoming outdated (2008) but the descriptions and maps often do still hold up. Easy-to-read format. A nice complement to eBird and other sources for site guide information.
pretty good overview of the birds of the texas hill country but poor documentation of important sightings. Also statements of bird's range with no documentation at all so must trust the author's memory accuracy and any heresay used.
The TOS Handbook of Texas Birds, Second Edition (Louise Lindsey Merrick Natural Environment Series) by Mark W. Lockwood
This is a very good bird book for Texas, focusing on summer and winter distributions and timing of migration to and from winter and summer range.
