Zapped: Why Your Cell Phone Shouldn't Be Your Alarm Clock and 1,268 Ways to Outsmart the Hazards of Electronic Pollution by Ann Louise Gittleman
I found Zapped to be very informative, helpful, and very worthwhile, even though it is now almost 10 years old, which is a lifetime in the tech world. Science has only further supported the serious health effects that the constant and ever-increasing bombardment of EMFs create in our lives.
If you think carrying your phone around in your pocket (or bra!) all of the time or letting your young kids sit with it or an iPad regularly is no problem, I feel very sorry for you, and especially for show more your children because they are getting more cumulative exposure through immature brains and bodies over their lifetimes than you. You will all drain our social services budgets, though, on your way down the sickness spiral.
Consciousness, critical thinking, and awareness are all needed now more than ever, as we all participate in making our world increasingly more toxic by the choices we make in our lives about what we "need", want, demand in our lifestyles. Religious dogma, such as that below--"I don't agree with the author's views in relation to our oneness with the earth and mother nature. The earth was created by God (as were we) and God sustains the earth and causes it to function despite the consequences of the curse (sin.)"--is just another way to ignore reality, unpleasant truths, and personal responsibility. I, too, believe in a Creator of all that we know and beyond, but I would never assume that this gives me a pass on using the brain that I was gifted in order to improve and protect my own life, that of my family, and our shared environment.
I hope that more people will wake up and read books like Zapped, or watch movies like Generation Zapped ASAP. With 5G rolling out now, and 5G satellites soon to be blasted out into space this summer (2019), time is of the essence. All that's in Zapped will seem like child's play because far stronger and more harmful EMFs will be zapping us all from space, no matter where in the world we are or the infrastructure or devices are concentrated. There really will be nowhere to hide. Google "petition against 5G" if you care. show less

Radical Longevity: The Powerful Plan to Sharpen Your Brain, Strengthen Your Body, and Reverse the Symptoms of Aging by CNS Ph.D. Gittleman, Ann Louise
This was a bit hard to rate. On the one hand, there were some assertions in here that seemed like pseudoscience. The lack of real references made it hard to confirm what the source of many of the suggestions in the book were. (There were also a couple of statements that were definitely wrong, such as the one that the best time to get vitamin D is early morning or late afternoon -- most UVB, which gives Vitamin D, comes through at midday.) On the other hand, there are some things in here that show more do seem to have at least some scientific backing. I also learned some things, which is a bit unusual as I've read a ton of material in this field. On the whole, it's among the better health/longevity books I've read. show less
Zapped: Why Your Cell Phone Shouldn't Be Your Alarm Clock and 1,268 Ways to Outsmart the Hazards of Electronic Pollution by Ann Louise Gittleman
This was an interesting read....not sure that it's 100% reliable but interesting definitely.
The author explains how electromagnetic pollution is invading our lives and gradually causing our illnesses. She sites various examples of individual cases where it does seem to be likely that EMP is responsible for the health problems experienced. She lists vitamins and minerals that will help combat the problem and suggests a range of expensive gadgets you could buy for your home/car/workplace etc. show more She provides lists of websites/resources for further reading. She explains how she has implemented some of her own recommendations. She even provides suggested recipes to incorporate various foods into your diet....
However, the book reads as an expose, as if the authorities are deliberately concealing data that is killing vast numbers of people and as if the answers contained in this book will solve any and all health problems. It seems as if the author attributes everything that is wrong in our lives to EMP. A lot of the detail is technical and may be beyond the abilities of the average reader ( a lot of it was beyond me,) this may confuse people and cause them to panic, making them believe that they are being zapped and are about to drop dead any second if they don't buy expensive gadgets NOW!
The biggest problem with this book is that it is meant to be preventative so the author advocates buying all these things, having various tests done etc even if you are currently well. The reality is that most people won't even think about this unless they have always been worried about EMF/mobile phones microwaving their brains etc or they are already ill and trying to eliminate causes. If they are ill already these suggestions may work or at least help but they are unlikely to eliminate the problem altogether as everyone's body is different.
I don't agree with the author's views in relation to our oneness with the earth and mother nature. The earth was created by God (as were we) and God sustains the earth and causes it to function despite the consequences of the curse (sin.)
There are some interesting things in this book and useful resources. Also small things that we can all do to limit our exposure to EMP.....but don't panic on reading it! I have a light exposure to EMP as I don't like gadgets and therefore have very few but a typical gadget holder may be very scared on reading this book.....

Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, CNS has been considered an expert in her field of nutrition and wellness for decades. She's a prolific author as well. Despite having loved her book about perimenopause, this is the first of her nutrition or diet books I've read.
The update she's made to her Fat Flush plans seem to use the latest science. It's a smart plan that focuses on using different foods that what you might typically choose, but they're all available at your local grocery store or farmer's show more market.
Gittleman focuses on detoxifying the gallbladder, liver, and lymphatic system as a key element to weight loss and overall health. Most importantly, she explains why in language that's easy to understand. Although she does discuss (and sell) supplements, the tools for detoxifying and nourishes these vital organs are primarily healthy foods, herbs, and spices. The information about how to keep your bile healthy was particularly helpful, since my husband just had his gallbladder (which stores and manages bile) removed.
The Plan has three phases, starting with a three-day intense detox. I cannot imagine venturing on such a strict liquid-only cleanse during the work week. In fact, I think it's irresponsible to encourage a three-day cleanse without even suggesting that people do this during a down time. From what I've experienced and been taught, going all liquid should not be combined with every day levels of activity.
After completing Phase 1, the "Fat Flusher" goes on to Phases 2 and 3. These two phases have lots of menu plans and recipes, since they may potentially stay on them for a long time. However restrictive it may feel, my guess is that it would be possible to maintain this lifestyle with the added motivation of weight and health changes. The way Gittleman writes the plan, there's wiggle room for adding back in dairy and carbs as your program progresses.
A lot of the entree recipes focus on roasting, baking, and stir-frying. But never fear, they include healthy fats and most sound delicious. I was especially intrigued by the idea of Savory Spaghetti Squash Pancakes, Pâté for All Seasons, Ruby Rich Dressing (using beets!), and Coconut Creme Brûlée.
All in all, an interesting approach that I'm likely to test in the coming weeks and months.
