Excellent primer on your right to protect yourself. The book contains several safety items that everyone who handles a gun should know. Additionally, it contains techniques, strategies and principles for your defense. Finally, the laws are illuminated nicely. I thought that the techniques were very detailed with lots of pictures displaying the right way to accomplish a task. Not a page-turner, but a good book for a new gun owner or for review by an established one.
This handbook on pistol shooting is one in a series of NRA publications on the basics of shooting. Handbooks which provide basic instruction for other firearms, such as rifle, shotgun, and muzzleloader, are also part of this series. In addition, handbooks on personal protection and home firearm safety are available. Courses in all of these subject areas are conducted by NRA certified instructors.
