A story of the afterlife that was sad, funny, tense and unpredictable. The author was able to make all the characters – both the living and dead ones – believable and interesting, and their interactions were very well written. Daniel was one of my favourites. I particularly liked the way the author portrayed Jayden’s continuing need to put her children first and her frustration at not being able to do it in a physical form.
It is obvious the author researched a lot of material on the show more afterlife and incorporated different aspects of it to make a great story. I liked the concept that even after we die, we make our own decisions about the route our new journey will take.
I loved the ending and I am looking forward to reading the seque show less

A Ring of Truth is the second book in Val Tobin's exciting paranormal series, The Valiant Chronicles. This book can be read as a stand alone.
I started this series out of curiosity, and I’m so glad that I did. A Ring of Truth is a fabulous story, superbly written, with a compelling plot and well-developed characters.
Carolyn Fairchild is a medium, and because of her unique gift she is wanted by the aliens and imprisoned by their ally, the government. The Agency, a particular branch of the show more government has been manipulating Carolyn’s memories and allowing the aliens to steal from her for years. Jim Cornell from the Agency considers Carolyn his prize possession and tortures and blackmails her for his own gain.
There are several subplots within A Ring of Truth which add depth and intrigue to this fascinating story. My attention was captured from the very first page. I was so engrossed in the story that I didn’t want the book to end.
I don’t know whether there will be a book three or not, but I sure hope so. This is the first book that I have read by this author, but it certainly won’t be my last.
I highly recommend giving this compelling thriller a read.

This was a fun little intro (I'm assuming) into the follow-up novel. It doesn't give away too much, which is perfect, because it does leave you wanting more.
Well written, creepy, and even better...It's relatively local to me, which always makes the horror fun. They're escaping to Peterborough??? These things are an hour away from me?
...cool.
And I mean, good lord, with a name like "Tobin"... I kind of HAD to read this, didn't I?
