My first thought as I read this book is it is a quirky book that is going to make me laught the whole time. Yes I was spot on. What was Dottie thinking, having a baby while her husband is once again away for business.? The race to the hospital is hysterical . When she was given a ticket as she is exiting her car is priceless.
Dottie is a master at juggling things. She takes care of the kids and now a newborn, cooks, cleans, and tries to keep friendly with the neighbors. Is there one moment, show more one time that Dottie can have a minute to herself? The thought of locking yourself in the bathroom is brilliant, but then who would look after the children? Her knight in shining armor Harry, her adoring husband is a very gentle kind man. He seems to be able to calm Dottie down when she gets out of control. Maybe she should do something about her stress?
Dottie has a baby monitor that somehow picks up her neighbors conversations. How many know that eavesdropping can only lead to disaster? It seems the gossip on the baby monitor is that two neighbors are having an affair. Gasp! This is not going to end well. Who are the cheaters? What kind of trouble has Dottie gotten herself into this time?
The author has skillfully written a great book that has so many laugh out loud chapters, I actually had to go to another room to continue reading. It seems I was bothering my hubby with my constant snickering and hysterical laughing. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a great book that is filled with humor and a cast of characters thst will make you smile.

I'm not a mother and I'm not British (so I should say I'm not a mum), but that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying this book. Dotty has three small children including a newborn, a husband who is often away on work, and a new house to cope with. She tries to fit in with her new neighbors, but some of them are not the nicest. The plot thickens when she realizes her baby monitor can pick up other people's conversations, like listening to her own private neighborhood soap opera. I live in an show more apartment, and hope MY neighbors weren't bothered by me laughing out loud at all the zany antics. show less
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest review from LibraryThing. This book was totally funny with a ton of laugh out loud moments. It gives a realistic view of a mom with 3 kids trying to juggle everything and at the same time, trying to make new friends. All the scenes with the baby monitor had me giggling or laughing as I could envision that this could really happen. It is a relaxing, funny book that is enjoyable to read and I suggest you pull up a chair and enjoy.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.A very cute take on a worn out mother of 3 who just wants to make some friends and have a life outside of diapers and spilled milk. I love how real the character was written. The ideas that float through our heads of assaulting the oblivious husband who does not see how close to the edge we are; gagging over the leaking poopy diaper; the feelings of worthlessness. What stay at home mother has not wanted to have someone other than a two year old to talk to. And, I know I would have a show more difficult time resisting the urge to listen in on the neighbors. Overall, this is a very cute book that I felt right at home reading. show less
