I received a copy for an honest review. I found the book a bit dull. I agree with other readers that it didn't provide much new information.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest review. One word to describe it was amazing. Through the telling of this affair, you can sense the wealth of emotions Harriet may have experienced at that time. It brings forth a clearer picture of all that women had to endure in loveless marriages, consequences of unhappy older women attempting to find some semblance of love in younger men, and the emotional highs/lows in an affair. It was very well written and I felt like it flowed and was told in a manner as if Harriet Bessborough herself was actually having a conversation with you sharing her life experiences. Well done!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest review. Although I appreciate the amount of work that went into the book, the writing style was not to my liking. It read more like a few paragraphs here and there on a topic but wasn't a true history book on America.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. What Was It Like During Christmas in The 80s?: A Journal to Reflect and Share the 80s Holiday Spirit by Riya Aarini
I received a copy for an honest review. It was not what I expected as I thought it would have a few interesting facts about the 80's throughout the book. It is basically a Q&A to write your own thoughts so it would have been better to just call it a holiday memory book and not the 80's as there wasn't anything special noted in it on the 80s.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest opinion. Although the book is an easy read, which I liked, I don't think that the characters were developed sufficiently and the writing is a bit choppy in some areas. I appreciate that the author is self-published but would suggest re-visiting the story and expanding it with more details on surroundings, character expansion etc. Best of luck to the author and please continue working on your craft.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from LibraryThing Early Reviewers for an honest opinion. One word to describe this book was wonderful!. I can add so many more adjectives but it wouldn't do this story justice. I absolutely loved how this story was told through the lives of 5 women and the connection through the Marvelous Maven meetings. It was unique and many of the feelings, frustrations, and experiences described have been told to me from various different family members and friends but reading it really placed it into perspective of how experiences either lived by the woman or told to another woman helps shape women's choices for their lives. Bravo Ms. Evans for a fabulous story!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy of this book from LibraryThing Free Book Giveaway for an honest opinion. I tried several times to finish the book but honestly found it very difficult to understand the main characters. Louisa is so unsure and doesn't appear to have any natural inclination for medicine. I felt it was way out of her town but no true devotion. I wish Louisa would have been a bit more assertive or at least sure of her own skills and then showcased it in the town to sway others to see her as a future doctor.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from LibraryThing Early Reviewers for an honest opinion. Overall, the storyline was very interesting. I feel that the author should have developed the story a bit more to give more details on the grandfather, and her relationship with her friends. The descriptions of the scenery were very nice.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from LibraryThing Early Reviewers program for an honest opinion. I really enjoyed this book and it had me wondering what was in the box. The ending was a bit surprising on the contents but the overall story was great. Minerva was spunky and without giving away the ending, I was glad that the author ended it is such a nice way.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received this copy from the LibraryThing Free Book Giveaway for an honest opinion. I really enjoyed this story. I must admit when I first received the book, I thought that the page count was too small to provide a good story. I was glad to have been proved wrong as the author was able to develop the storyline in a wonderful, modern Cinderella type story. I would recommend.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers for an honest opinion. This story was so wonderful as it as it was unique and relatable. There is a subtle reference to religion and faith which the author weaved into the story very masterfully. I also enjoyed the development of the relationships throughout the story. I would recommend.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest opinion. I really enjoyed this story as it was funny and the concept of a female matchmaker was unique. The author was able ot set the stage for an interesting story line. It was an easy read and very entertaining. I would recommend it.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest opinion. I really enjoyed the entire story and the way the author was able to weave the mystery of the house and the dollhouse. I don't want to give any spoilers but would definitely recommend that you read it. This is not my usual genre but the story had me glued to it from the first page.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest review. I really wanted to enjoy this book but it just didn't work for me. The overall premise is very interesting of an emerald necklace and all its secrets.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy of the book for an honest review. Overall, it was a nice story but it did seem a bit choppy and didn't flow as well as I thought it would while reading it. I would have liked to see more of a development of Norah's character and what happened in the 2 year period.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I really liked this story as it was very unique. I particularly liked the conversations the gargoyle has with himself and all that he has 'experienced' from being on top of the cathedral. It was nice to see the evolution of Duck and the qualities of the baker as she encouraged her to learn and grow. A very nice read and I highly recommend.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Wonder Women of Science: How 12 Geniuses Are Rocking Science, Technology, and the World by Tiera Fletcher
I reecived a copy from Librarything Early Reviewers for an honest opinion. The selection of the 12 women of science was wonderful. It gave the perspective from different women in different fields and I liked the fact that in a few paragraphs their journey was presented in a manner that was inspiring. It is a great book and kudos to the authors for putting this all together. I suspect that this book will be used as encouragement for girls to achieve their dreams in science. Well done!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest opinion. I had high hopes that this twist on a classic would be a great novel. However, I was sorely disappointed in that it starts so bland and gets worse as you go along with fragments of sentences that becomes extremely annoying. I felt no connection with any of the characters and feel that maybe classics should just be left alone.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy of this book for an honest opinion. Although contemporary romance isn't my favorite genre, overall this story was very sweet. I wish that the author had developed more of the storyline between Bri and Gerard and more of a glimpse of Bri's parents relationship. It just seemed like there wasn't enough context of her parents' love story, her mother, and her desire to stay in the bakery. I saw a connection with her mother and the bakery but not her parents' love story with the bakery. Her relationship with Gerard just seemed a bit rushed towards the end.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a free copy from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers for an honest opinion. Overall, this was a well written, sweet story of a romance between two best friends. The elements of mystery surrounding the 'treasure' made it an interesting read. I also felt that it had a good 'teaching moment' that you should not allow the opinions of others to determine your self worth. We are defined by the goodness of our heart.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest review. This story is best for pre-teens and even teenagers as it shows the evolution of character writing in a storyline. Overall, I would recommend it; albeit, it took me a bit of time to get involved in the plot.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy for an honest opinion. I thought that overall it was a well written story but found it a bit frustrating with the characters. I started it, put it down, and then re-started it but just couldn't bring myself to like it much.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from LibraryThing Early Reviewers for an honest opinion. I absolutely loved this story as it flowed so seamlessly. It starts with Emmie having a scavenger hunt for her boyfriend in order to create lasting memories. However, fate decides to throw a wrench into the plan and she winds up spending time with another guy. Sam was absolutely darling and so sweet. I loved the interaction and you can tell that the author wrote this story from the heart. I highly recommend it.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from LibraryThing Early Reviewers for an honest opinion. I found this book to be very slow and ultimately a bit boring. I also found it to be a bit depressing with the issues of the death penalty, addiction, and loneliness. During this time, I much prefer an upbeat type of read.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from LibraryThing Early Reviewers for an honest opinion. I really enjoyed this book as the story was easy going and was more focused on her personal journey. It wasn't overly religious but at the same time, it did have some "soul searching". I really liked the characters with the exception of Brandon as I kind of felt that his character was a bit over the top. This is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I enjoyed the relationship between grand-daughter and grandfather but ultimately the story of refurbishing an old trailer was so nice.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from SheSpeaks for an honest review. Unfortunately, this was so very boring from the first page. The pace of the story was so slow and didn't capture my attention at all. The characters were so bland and boring and the storyline wasn't witty or romantic. I don't know what other people saw in the book but unfortunately I didn't like it at all. This was a big no for me.
I received a copy from LibraryThing for an honest opinion. I started the story and then wasn't completely pulled into the narrative, so I stopped reading it. I waited a few weeks and then re-started it with a 'new slate' perspective and found that I enjoyed it better. Overall, it was interesting and I would recommend.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from Librarything for an honest review. I didn't like the flow of the storyline. It seemed uninteresting and boring. No matter how much I wanted to like it, the whole sports theme was not interesting and neither was Cadie's insecurities. Unfortunately, this was not a good read.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from Libraything for an honest review. This book was wonderful to read and follow Sophie's journey through betrayal, loss, anger, and self-discovery of who she has become as she copies with her emotional roller coaster. I admit that I thought she would return to the safety of her old life and was pleasantly surprised with her evolution. Overall, a great storyline and great read.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I received a copy from LibaryThing for an honest review. It was an interesting plot of two women you make a pact to cheat on their husbands as payback. Although I though it started out well, I felt it fell flat towards the end. The long lost boyfriend seemed to be crammed in the last few chapters and wasn't developed so it didn't bring context to the story. I think it would have been better to leave the old boyfriend out of the picture and focus more on the dynamics of their friendships and failed marriages.
