{My thoughts} – Moby is back with a all new job adventure. He is always trying to find a nice job where he can help out. In this fun book he gets wrapped up at a construction site where he is moved around from place to place, but his Ninja skills aren't very helpful.
He tries to chop up lumber, hammer some nails and some other things, but it all ends up in a terrible disaster. Eventually he is told that his skills aren't the kind of skills that are useful for a construction job.
As he's show more getting ready to leave a puppy ends up stuck and Moby saves the day. Moby is the one that helps figure out and get the puppy out.
I really like these books. They are incredibly well done for early readers. There are some fun and bright illustrations on all the pages. The sentences are short and written in a rhyming type formation.
I recommend this book for any beginner reader. These are fun to read. The sentences are in like a thought bubble type manner which makes it an entertaining read. I think that this book and all the rest in the series could definitely become some favorites. show less

This is a new addition to the Acorn line of easy readers/beginning chapter books. Moby Shinobi was originally an easy reader series, published a few years ago, and has been adapted to Acorn with new books.
The story begins with Moby, a white boy with brown hair, and his dog Toby in the Shinobi Dojo. They decide to go to the beach, pack up their ninja tools and beach towels, and take off. Once at the beach, lots of people need help and even though he fails at first, Moby keeps on trying and show more eventually his ninja skills work out.
The art is bright and colorful, and always makes me think it's a tie-in to a cartoon. The only diversity is one brown-skinned friend and a few background people. The text is rhyming couplets, "Argh! The fish cannot be caught! Our lines are tangled in a knot!/I did my ninja best you see. Why do my plans not work for me?"
Verdict: These leave me cold and I doubt they will be as popular as Unicorn and Yeti or Crabby, but kids who like cutesy ninja books and those who enjoyed the Moby Shinobi easy readers will be happy to have these to supplement their reading.

{My thoughts} – I have had the pleasure of reading a few of the other Moby Shinobi books in the past. I have always enjoyed them. They are written in a rhyme type verse and they flow extremely nicely. They always have a fun little story and the graphics match the text upon the pages.
This book wasn’t much different other then it had four short stories and was focused around both Moby and his pal Toby. They both do things together and get to meet new people and help them after of course show more causing a bit of trouble to begin with. It’s all written and done in good fun and completely easy to understand and follow along.
I really enjoy the simpleness of this book and hope that the rest in the series will be made in the same way. I like that it’s east for children to read and the sentences are short and not overly long. I look forward to reading more books in this series in the future. show less

{My thoughts} – Moby Shibobi is at it again. This time he is at the firehouse. He has a rough time finding something there he can help with given it isn’t his area of expertise. Eventually he finds something to help with that he is really good at.
The illustrations match the words on the pages nicely. They go hand and hand with one another and help to show the reader what the author is trying to tell them. The bright illustrations help to keep the story appealing to children. It also show more helps to show children that even though they may not find something they are good at right away, eventually something will be discovered.
I recommend this book for early readers. It has simple phrases that early readers can breeze on through. I think that Moby Shinobi has the potential to become a beloved child’s character within the book world. This book will make a great addition to any child or teacher’s library. show less
