24 months - I really liked the American Folk Art appearance to the illustrations but like most ABC books about places many of the choices are a bit beyond a small child or obscure choices trying to fit the theme and a difficult letter. Take Z for Zydeco for example. How many adults have even heard of that type of music that are not from Louisiana? I don't mind a few new concepts in a book but there were too many to keep her attention... This ABC books highlights things that are important to American history and culture. At the end of the book there is a glossary which tells about the significance of each symbol depicted in the book. It has unique illustrations which depict each item in a cartoon like style. I really liked how each item was so visually appealing and how the "meat" was listed in the glossary to give context to each picture.

This is a wonderful book for teaching letters. It is also a great information book because it contains facts about the words that went with each letter in the alphabet. For example: Y....Established in 1872 Yellowstone National Park was the world's first national park. Great read for the classroom, could be used for teaching abc's or an tool for teaching American history.
