This account of the impact of World War II on Inchfawn's family near Bath and Bristol is an easy and entertaining read. I have always been intrigued by Inchfawn who must have been a prolific author now forgotten. The parts of this book about evacuees and worries about lodging them are really interesting as is the obsession with servanrs and staff.
The poems may not be great but they brought back memories of my mother at the wash tub, starch and suds, Spring cleaning, darning, shirts on the washing line, washing day, pots, pans and currant cakes not forgetting vests, sugar lumps and carpet rucks
