The message of this book is to compromise with the people around you, you may come up with an even better idea than you originally had.
I found this book to be quite pleasing because of the message, the language, and the illustrations.
I enjoyed the message because June and Joe were having difficulties coming up with appropriate lyrics for June’s tune but ask another friend for help. I believe this is an excellent example for showing how compromises can sometimes lead to better results show more than not working together. It would make the reader think that they might want to start compromising with others when their own real life problem comes to light.
Not only did I enjoy the message, I also enjoyed the language of this book. One many occasions, the book created a simple pace for the reader to follow. There were not too many difficult words and the words were placed in a nice pattern. When reading this out loud it was easy and almost fun to pronounce, an example would be “this monster should be sweet. Like a brute with a flute”.
Lastly, the illustrations were absolutely adorable. The illustrated presented the characters and setting almost as if looking at an animated television show. The characters and settings are made of circles upon circles, squares, and many more simple shapes. The colors are very vibrant and there is not too much detail in any of the illustrations but it works quite well with this story. The illustrations are wonderfully pleasing and simple. show less

45 months - great concept of having the left page be for the parent to read and the right (less wordy) page for the child. This one focuses on colors, numbers and lots of cats! O really enjoyed it.
I particularly love the ‘We Both Read’ series. These books have a page for the adult and a page for the child. New vocabulary is introduced in bold on the adult page so that the child is ready when they meet the new word on their page. The series has a range of fiction, non-fiction and fairy tales and is leveled and progresses in difficulty. Today I found My Car Trip by Sindy McKay 2005. The book is designed to be shared, it is interactive. It enables reading with text and visual and show more rhyming cues as children learn the relationship between the printed word and sounds. The series as a whole is really appealing. For children it allows their reading to become a relationship with someone else who is sharing the journey through their book. Sometimes student interests go way beyond their own reading ability. By sharing a book we can reach both interests and ability, and thus inform, teach and engage all in one. Perfect. show less
A we-both-read book that would be of interest to many young students. Text is well written.
My criticism for this book is the quality of the pictures. There are many blurry images/drawings. The illustrations are not too fantastic, either.
