This book is all about American short hair cats! The author explains where these kind of cats came from and how they become domesticated, as well as their behavior and manor. I really like this book because first of all, I love cats, and second of all it had some really awesome facts about cats with really cute pictures in it. I would use this book in a reading lesson about summarizing where students have to recall the different facts about this kind of cat and then summarize it in a short show more paragraph. This is a great way for teachers to integrate the science of cats with language arts . show less
A good introduction to the animal, with one or two sentences on each page; large, clear photographs; and accompanying lists with a small photograph of each item (e.g. "on the menu," "animals to avoid," etc.). A map shows the area of North America in which jackrabbits can be found.
Front/Back matter: table of contents, bolded vocabulary throughout appears in a glossary in the back matter, additional resources "at the library" and "on the web," index.

I really liked this book mainly because of that fact that it's different than the other ones i've read. This book was all about platypus' and the facts that are associated with them. Informational texts give students a more fun approach to learning facts. Informational texts include maps, fun fact boxes, and large titles. These text features make informational texts way more interesting. I read this book very quickly and feel as if I learned so much from this book. I learned that platypus' show more have small spurs on their hind legs that are actually full of venom. show less
This book is not a bad book but I was not super interested in all the materials discussed in the book. This book is very much a biography about the author Jeff Kinney but I was also expecting them to go into more depth about the diary of a wimpy kid series.
The book starts with his life before he became an author and where he is from. Then is talks about how Diary of a Wimpy Kid started off as a series on a website known as funbrain and it attracted enough audience that he made it into a show more physical published book. show less
