- Rev."John Allan (1796-1885), ..., was the minister of Union Church, Aberdeen from 1832. He joined the Free Church in 1843, but resigned as minister of Union Free Church in 1846 [1847] due to a throat infection. He died in Ayr. [Hew Scott, ed., Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae, vol. 6, Edinburgh 1926, p.41. which gives the wrong year of birth."
