I am going to say that this book is good but not perfect. Daniel Ammann wrote an engaging portrait of Marc Rich. I am glad he started the story with Marc Rich's parents. This family background is essential to understanding Marc Rich and what motivates him.

The author tried to be balanced but left a lot out. For instance, he did not write about the changing nature of the oil market: was Marc Rich able to adapt his style to the changing world of oil?

I also believe he did not delve deep enough into the scandal surrounding Marc Rich. This omission is a shortcoming of the book.… (more)
