This was a great book for our Louisiana unit. With playful language and scientific illustrations, this book covers the different walks of life that are native to wetlands. The book follows a child that is wandering around wetlands, discovering all of the nature that exists naturally: ducks, toads, mosquitos, swallow tail butterflies… a child in my classroom had captured a swallowtail butterfly and brought it to school in a jar on the first day of school. The butterfly has remained in perfect condition in the sealed jar, so it was wonderful to be able to pull that out to look at.

In the back of the book there is a facts page, offering more information about wetlands if the reader were interested in pursuing further knowledge.
