I absolutely love a good World War II novel, but the best ones are few and far between. Brothers-in-Arms is a masterpiece and the best of its genre I have read in years. I very much appreciated its quality and highly enjoyed it.

There were so many things I loved about this book, and it was wonderfully well-written. The highlights for me were the masterfully developed characters, the suspenseful and engaging plot, and the beautiful and profound themes. Franz and Japhet were such deep, well-developed, and lovable characters, and I was riveted by their journey together and apart. I also really enjoyed the supporting characters, especially Jimmy. I loved the themes of friendship, trust, and forgiveness shown in the relationships of the characters, and I especially appreciated the elements of faith and hope for the characters even amid the trials of the characters. The entire book amazed me with its meaningfulness and depth of themes.

This is a story full of emotion and heartache, and the author does a wonderful job of making the reader feel what the characters go through. My heart began to break on the second page of the first chapter and only continued on from there! Although this book is quite intense at many points and sometimes painful, the author weaves in themes of hope even in its darkest moments. Because of this, the story was encouraging to me overall despite the many difficulties the characters face.

I would definitely recommend this wonderful book to anyone who would enjoy a realistic historical novel with amazing characters, deep themes, and an interesting and incredible story.
