- Sharon L. Baker is Assistant Professor of Theology and Religion and Coordinator of the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania. She has published numerous articles and speaks frequently throughout the United States on nonviolent atonement and hell. A former stay-at-home mom, Baker received her PhD from Southern Methodist University in 2006.

Razing Hell: Rethinking Everything You've Been… by Sharon L. Baker
This book gave me enough think about that I feel I need to do more digging on the subject. Baker makes a good case for why we should consider the justice of God from a restorative viewpoint, rather than a retributive one. Her study on fire throughout the Bible was compelling. Her alternative view of Hell was intriguing... but I still would like an exhaustive study on all the various passages in the scriptures regarding Hell and the places where God comes across violent and retributive. I realize that she didn't have the space to do that in a book like this... but that will be the final piece in helping me change my mind. All in all, the book was accessible and thought-provoking... thanks Sharon for having the courage to write something as polarizing as this topic can be!… (more)
