Katy Bauer is a novelist, scriptwriter and journalist, and has contributed to Style, Playboy, Marie Claire and Elle magazines, as well as the Mail & Guardian and ThisDay. In television, she wrote the scripts for, among others, The Toasty Show, Renaissance Man, a documentary on the life of Thabo Mbeki, and Dali Tambo’s talk show, People of the South.
Her first novel, The Track, was published in 2003. She lives in Cape Town with her husband and baby daughter.

30-something narrator lives in Jo'burg works intermitantly as a tv researcher/journalist. Married to a long-suffering bloke and with one infant who is left to the tender mercies of the maid. She and her best pal are trying to get their big idea onto the Big Screen and gain entry into the ranks of the rich and successful. She is in undeclaired war with an ex-college Zelda who has made it to the top. Written as a stream of conciousness the book portrays the selfish, brittle urban life of modern white Jo'burg.… (more)
