Definitely for the younger generation. I found it rather shallow. The ideas were fun and the story line was good but the characters, their magic and the the predictability was not for adults. As a children's book it gets stars and one less for adults. There were certainly enough ideas to reconstruct if the author wanted to switch to adults, but I think it was intended for a younger audience and I think it would be successful for that. The author stated that although the story did continue from a previous book, it could also stand alone an I found that to be the case. I did not feel lost at any point because of a previous story line, although had I read the previous book, I think the experience would have been better. Arthur and Marya were certainly the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys coming together to make a male/ female combo (right up to the father being a detective as well). i have to say I would like to find out more about Mr. Chomsky. Maybe I will watch for the next installment. Good teen book, easy read adult book but a pleasant read.… (more)

I think the book was a little too young minded for me, couldn't finish it. Expected more magic and fantasy but to my adult mind, the book didn't deliver. I think it would appeal to a much younger demographic. That said it was well written and the characters (except for the ranger) were well developed.
