Die Geheimdiplomatie des Prinzen Eugen von Savoyen by Max Braubach
A short but sweet account of Prince Eugene's well-bribed diplomatic network which relied on a number of assistants and well-minded personal connections at the courts of Europe. A lot of activity was devoted to simple information gathering resulting in a giant flow of letters in and out of Vienna. Having described the system, Braubach might have enlightened us with a sample process.
