Interesting text about the history of sacred reading practices. Modern reading practices and literary theory (prior to the continental linguistic turn of the late 20th century) were heavily influenced by both lectio divina and biblical hermeneutics, so if you're interested in reading as a practice and are looking for a new approach to reading, this might be worth checking out.

Benedictine monastic spirituality has emerged as an antidote to the spiritual and cultural challenges facing people of faith today. In this book, the author focuses specifically on GRACE, and the benevolence of God as it expresses itself in many different ways along our spiritual journey.

Michael Casey is the closest thing I have to a spiritual director. He writes with a clarity and directness that I find very beneficial. Though written with monastics in mind, 74 Tools could be read with profit by anyone intent on pursuing holiness.
