"My Brother John", written by, Kristine Church and illustrated by Kilmeny Niland, is a book about an older brother who was brave for scaring monsters away for his sister. The only thing he happens to be very afraid is green frogs. The pictures within this book are done with mostly light/pastel looking colors and aren't that bright in some pages. Although the illustrations are well done, I feel the drawings could have been used in different colors to be able to capture everything going on within the book. With that said, the story shows how much the little girls brother enjoys scaring the monsters away. He scares them away from under her bed at night, in the bathtub and in their tree house. The little girl thinks her brother is brave and fearless except when it comes to green frogs. She happens to be the brave fearless one and takes them away from her brother.… (more)
