This beautifully produced little book contains translations of haiku into German from the Japanese originals dating from the 17th to the 19th centuries. Fifty years ago when I was first given a copy while in hospital, I tried translating some of them from German into English; not easy, as the stress tends to come on the wrong part of the word. On the cover and accompanying the poems are appropriate Japanese illustrations in colour.
