This book describes the Second World War efforts of Japan, Canada and the United States in the struggle for control of the Aleutian islands, Alaska, and the west coast of Canada and the United States. It is a very readable chronicle with pictures of the events of this little known conflict. Using the records of the Japanese navy as well as the archives of the Canadian and American forces, Coyle describes the submarine attacks and patrols in the western Pacific as well as the invasion and occupation of the islands of Attu, Kiska by the Japanese forces and their subsequent expulsion.… (more)
