It took me a bit to get into this book. About the halfway point though, I was really glad I kept with it. I enjoyed the story and the ending was very exciting. I would recommend this book.

This book was well written. I enjoyed the story and learned a bit about a different part of the world. The mystery and how the group solved the crime was really interesting. It was also pretty cool how the first book was referenced and I enjoyed how it added to the story but didn't make the reader have to have read the first book.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3.
The fifth book in a series of seven sisters. Takes place in the 1200’s in a world similar to our own with the addition of some magical elements. I didn’t care for the writing style. Time passed in jumps. One chapter on one day, the next in the next month. I felt no connection to the characters and just wanted to finish so I could move on to something better.
I received a free copy from LibraryThing and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I have loved this series so far, and this latest installment is no exception. This time we get to see things from Gypsum's POV, and we get to meet a new group of people inhabiting this world. As always, the world and character building are great, with plenty of depth. The reczavy were an interesting group, and different from the others we've gotten to see. I was unable to put this down once I started, I really wanted to know how Gypsum would get her new-found family of sorts to rise to the occasion and fight the mongols. Cronin does an excellent job of playing out the dynamics between people while building tension. Highly recommend! You do not have to read the first five books to read this one, but you'd be missing out if you didn't!… (more)
