Explains how we seek the mountain peaks of life while traveling the deserts, the transitions and coming across an occasional oasis. Oases are those joyous moments and periods of rest during our lives as we journey through the years. I found this to be a very interesting book about our perspective dealing with life, achievement, loss, and change. I wish I had read this decades earlier in my life!
This book uses the desert as a metaphor for life, in contrast to the much more popular metaphor of mountain climbing. Where mountain climbing is all about a goal, crossing the desert is about the journey. Although the metaphor got a bit tedious at times, it is, I think, a much more realistic look at life and the nearly constant state of transition we live it.
