This is not the most beautiful translation of Orthodox prayers I've ever read (Archimandrite Lazarus Moore's translation in the old Jordanville prayer book takes that prize, as far as I'm concerned), but there's something appealing in the language, clunky as it is. It's in a convenient format, and the fact that it clearly shows the differences between the Greek and Slavic Rule of Prayer is very helpful.
Known among my friends 30 years ago as the "purple peril" as its cover is purple and it converted many to Orthodoxy. I did not convert, but I have found its prayers very meaningful; in particular, I still use the opening morning prayers.
