Mages Unbound is the second book in in this series. While, other readers have said this book can be read as a stand alone novel and I do kind of agree; it is better appreciated if you read the first book, Sirens Unbound first.

The first book sets the stage for this book with the characters and the world. Most of the first book explains the missions of the Bant siblings and who everyone was. So, it was slow reading for me. However, when it came to this book, all of those logistics were not needed and therefore it made this book faster reading.

Because there was more happening in this book and it moved at a faster pacing; I became more interested in what I was reading. Additionally, my connection to the Bant siblings was stronger. These books are some nice fantasy reads. If you are a fantasy reader, you might pick up these books.… (more)

I like the world that the author built for this book. It has faes and vampires and other elements of a good fantasy story. Which I am a fan of both types of characters. Instantly, I was drawn to the world that this story did take place in. I could picture everyone in my head. So, these are the good elements that I liked about this book.

Here is what I struggled with regarding this book. It moved really, really slow. There was not a lot happening. The book just seemed like it was more about the set up leading into the next book with explanation of who all the characters are and their missions.

There are a bunch of different characters introduced in the story. I had no issues keeping them straight but there was not one that really stood out to me. Due to the slow pacing. Yet, I did like enough things about this book that I do want to read book two to continue this journey.… (more)
