I really wanted to like this one, but I've given up. It has absolutely wonderful worldbuilding, and very interesting ideas, but I just can't stand the characters. The main character, Captain Davage, has got to be the most blatant wish-fulfilment power-fantasy Mary Sue since Richard Rall. And much like that protagonist of Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series, Davage is constantly surrounded by several smoking hot babes with superpowers who can't stop talking about how dreamy he is. The characterization of the titular Sygillis of Metatron in particular is just downright infantile.

If you want a blatant wish-fulfilment power fantasy, or genuinely liked the character dynamics in "Sword of Truth," perhaps you'd like this. But it is not to my liking.… (more)
